Playa Tambor
Playa Tambor is a small authentic fishing village, ideal for a relaxed vacation. Located halfway at the South tip of the Peninsula Nicoya. The horseshoe Bay has a 8 km sandy calm beach, great for families and safe for kids. Activities: snorkeling, swimming, diving, kayaking and deep sea fishing. At the south end of the bay is the fishing pier with the fish market and lots of fishing facilities, at low tide the beach offers horseback riding, volleyball and soccer.
The domestic airport is next from the Golf Course Los Delfines and offers daily flights to San Jose with Sansa Air.
Tambor offers a good choice of restaurants & shops. In Cobano you find the famous station for Bull riding, horses shows and typical Latin dancing.
The Tambor Area
The region is known for hiking and biking in the lush green tropical forest and is part of the Biological Corridor of the Peninsula Nicoya with the Curu Wildlife Park in the north and Cabo Blanco National Park in the south. At the north end of the bay is Tortuga Island, with a little white, sandy beach ideal for snorkeling, diving and Bioluminescent Kayaking tours. Tambor is a great place to see scarlet macaws and howler monkeys and a paradise for birdwatchers on the Panica River. From July to November you have a chance seeing whales in the Tambor Bay or Tortuga Island; whale watching tours are available during that period.
